Girard Courteau

August 21, 1942 - September 27, 2023 

Girard "Jerry" Robert Courteau, died on September 27, 2023, at his home in Santa Rosa, CA after a brief illness. 

Jerry received his BA degree from UC Berkeley in 1967 and his law degree from Hastings College of the Law in 1970, after which he become a deputy district attorney, a position he held in Marin County for nearly 30 years practicing consumer law for much of his career. 

A devout father and grandfather, Jerry loved Cal football, San Francisco Giants and and classic cars. He was an active member of the Corvettes of Sonoma County, including a long tenure writing the newsletter for the club. He was also an enthusiastic member of both the Redwood Empire Classic Chevy Club and the Cal Alumni Association of Oakmont. 

In recent years, Jerry enjoyed writing, traveling, attending car shows, and spending time with his family and friends. 

Jerry is survived by his partner, Judy Lynch Morris; his sister Collette and brother James; son Steven and grandchildren Michael and Nicholas; son Girard Jr. and grandchildren David and Robyn; son Devin (Nicolette) and grandchildren Calista and Gianna; daughter Heather (Brian) and grandchildren Thomas and Mattie; step-daughter Angela (James) and grandchildren James Jr. and Dominic; and grandchild Anthony. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; and his step-sons Anthony and Andrew. 

The family would like to express thanks for the wonderful support provided by Arbol Residences and the hospice care given by Anchor Health, in particular all of the nurses and other staff that cared for him during his last days.
