Truman Johnson

Truman Johnson

Truman Benjamin Johnson III

Truman Johnson, 80, passed away from complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis on February 23, 2022 at Marin General Hospital. He is survived by his children, Ben Johnson of Moultonborough, NH, Rob and Jenn Wright of Novato, CA, and 4 granddaughters. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Marilyn Johnson McIntosh (Marin Catholic 1963) who died from complications from Multiple Sclerosis in November 2019.

Truman was born on September 24, 1941 in San Francisco to the late Ben and Evelyn Johnson of Corte Madera. His family moved to Corte Madera in 1950. He was educated at St. Domimic’s (San Francisco) St. Rafael’s, Marin Catholic Highschool and College of Marin.

Truman loved music and for many years he played bass in several Dixieland and country western bands.   He worked in the construction trade in Marin County and in Utah. Truman loved sailing and for the last 30+ years he lived aboard his trimaran sailboat at the Loch Lomond Yacht Harbor in San Rafael.

We received the following message from Truman's ex-wife:

I’m Truman Johnson’s ex-wife and writing you to let you know that Truman passed away on February 23, 2022. I’ve been helping our daughter go through his effects and came upon his invitation to the reunion which was originally planned for September 2021. He celebrated his 80th birthday in September. His health went down rapidly after the first of the year. It was too bad the reunion had to be postponed...I know he was looking forward to attending and catching up with old friends.

My family knew Trumans family for many years as fellow parishoners at St Patricks in Larkspur. I reconnected with Truman at MC. Later on we crossed paths yet again when he did some work on  our  house in Larkspur.

Before starting work each day we would have coffee and talk. We taked about everything so I got  to know him as a good and kind person. He loved his years at MC and always called around reunion time. Im sorry we didnt connect for our 60th as he would have enjoyed it so much. Rest in peace Truman

I remember lots of good times during elementry school, especially wrestling on the park lawn in the middle of old town Corte Madera. We remained friends during our years at MC, hanging out and even double dating. We lost contact after MC, but looked forward to reunions where or warmth and friendship was easily renewed.

I will miss Truman.

Some of the things we remember about fellow classmates can be strange and unique. I remember Truman had the strange and I thought ugliest car ever. Little did I know that that Porsche 356 Spider was a "Classic"! R.I.P. my friend.
